ASECNA operating the first pan African AMHS link with Avitech technology

ASECNA has accomplished a huge milestone in the history of Aeronautical Message Handling.

ASECNA has accomplished a huge milestone in the history of Aeronautical Message Handling. Supported by Indra Group (Indra Sistemas as Contractor and Avitech GmbH as solution provider), ASECNA have established the first operational AMHS link in the ICAO Africa – Indian Ocean (AFI) Region, connecting the two AMHS Communication Centres of Togo and Benin. Indeed, last week of June 2016, a team composed of ASECNA, Indra Sistemas and Avitech (German subsidiary of Indra for MHS and AIS/AIM solutions) could successfully migrate the AFTN link between the COM Centres of Cotonou (Benin) and Lomé (Togo) into AMHS operations after thorough performance of bilateral AMHS tests. This significant achievement in Africa confirms the pioneer position of ASECNA organisation in the Region.

We are confident that future centres will follow, as other Avitech integrated AFTN/AMHS systems are also deployed in Dakar (running in shadow operations), Antananarivo, Bamako, Brazzaville, N'Djamena, Nouakchott, Niamey and Ouagadougou. In fact, it is foreseen that other ASECNA members will also transition soon into full AMHS operations, currently four of these COM Centres being operational with Avitech’s AFTN solution: Bamako (Mali), N’Djamena (Chad), Nouakchott (Mauritania) and Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).

Moreover, we also wish to express our satisfaction to have been able to achieve with ASECNA the transfer of the recently provided AMHS system to the Nouakchott new airport site, thus contributing to the operationalization of the new international airport in Nouakchott. At the end of the changeover to the new airport (AINO), all operational links have been established successfully with Bamako, Niamey, Dakar, Abidjan, Algiers, Casablanca and Nouadhibou.

Avitech and Indra Sistemas will support ASECNA´s leadership in the Region by providing human, technical and operational cooperation as well as avant-garde, efficient, robust and safe solutions.
